Toledo was a hidden gem we discovered on our second last day in Spain. It was a half an hour train ride from Madrid so we decided to spend the day strolling around the town and I am so glad we did!
We hoped on one of those tour buses and got a sense of the town and its historic presence. It is an adorably beautiful town with some heavy history behind it. Over the centuries it has been heavily influenced by the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian culture. While walking through its beautiful streets we came across a Gothic Cathedral, a Synagogue and Arabic influenced architecture.
While strolling through the cute bricked streets of the town, we stopped by to have some food.
I ordered steak with some wine, and boy was it delicious! I ended up finishing my meal with some cheese and cake and more red wine. I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I’ve had!
Despite being there for less than five hours, I can confidently say it is one of the towns I am going to revisit and explore properly.
I enjoyed our meals with wine and definitely loved the aura of the place. The people were so politely sweet and enthusiastic, it set the mood for the rest of the day for us.
